Since there is no clear relation between aid and development there is every reason in the world to reform the way we give aid. Let us take the poblem of moral hazard seriously and stop giving aid to corrupt governments but focus on the private sector. I have published a book in Dutch on this matter: De Prijs van een Slecht Geweten (The price of a bad conscience), Aspekt, Soesterberg, 2009. This book, already fifth print in two months, has fuelled an intensive political debate in The Netherlands. From 2006 until 2009 I was Development Aid spokesman for the Dutch LIberal Party VVD.
