"End development aid!"

At a development policy conference of the "Bonn Call" on September 15, 2018 in Bonn, the participants not only discussed the disappointing results of previous development policy, particularly in Africa, but also the continuation of a widely misguided policy. The following declaration was adopted (which, incidentally, does not apply to the activities of NGOs):

"The continued maintenance of the development aid industry disregards the dignity and ownership of the people of Africa and is a constant violation of the principle of subsidiarity. In view of the experiences of recent decades and out of respect for the capabilities of African societies, it is necessary to work towards an end to the current development aid and to replace it with economic cooperation based on mutual interests."
